Emergency Source Storage Container
Operation of the Safe Store storage container is intended for emergency use only in source retrieval situations. It will hold up to four sources with a total activity of 206 Ci, Ir-192. The shielding materials are lead and tungsten, so there is no depleted uranium liability.
The storage container comes complete with a lockable steel storage cage, restricting access to the inner storage pot. The cage reduces the surface dose rate on the container.
